Seedlings won't grow because of bad quality seed raising mix

Our Off-Grid Life

I’ve never wanted to be off-grid. Until very recently. Despite not having any drive to be off-grid, we are, a little. We have our own water source, solar power, a generator, and we cook off bottled gas. We have no phone or phone signal. We live up a mountain in Queensland Australia. In the tropics, but a little cooler because of our elevation. We keep animals for meat and eggs and grow most of our own fruit, veg and herbs.

Seedlings won't grow because of bad quality seed raising mix
Delphinium seedlings. Planted at the same time, 2 different seed raising mixes. They’re trying to stop us growing our own food by selling us products that just don’t work. It’s not your “black thumb” its the potting compost.

Why didn’t I want to be off-grid? Because I’m a blogger, that’s how I’ve fed my family for the last 12 years. By making websites. Not so much about us, more on informational topics. Travel, food, homeschooling, worldschooling, cats, gardening, and now this, living a homestead-type life, far from the madding crowds. We have blisteringly fast internet, thanks to Starlink, and we all use it. We use it a lot and have no desire to not use it.

But for the last few weeks, things have been shifting. There have been changes since March 2024 when Google destroyed the internet as a tool for the people. It’s about Google now, their profits, they stole all our thoughts, ideas and expertise and turned it into AI to line their pockets. Today ChatGPT has stolen even more. They’ve taken the livelihoods and original work of people like me. It’s gone.

Will it come back? I still have some hope. But I’m resigned to it being gone.

Today we’re also dealing with the US election results. But I’m hopeful. What looks like a step backwards may result in the step forward humanity needs to further raise our vibration and bring in the new age. Huge changes are coming very soon. If you know, you know. If you don’t, you’ll have no clue what I’m talking about. You will soon.

I’ve removed myself from Facebook. The maddening chatter and garbage is not worth my time. I have to have an account, but I’ve left, or am leaving every non-essential group. Friends can talk to me in private, and strangers’ opinions are none of my business. I feel lighter.

The other social media platforms have never been huge in my life, but I will still be on Instagram occasionally. I like sharing and looking at photos. Not reels, I detest reels, they’re so needy.

YouTube is a good source of learning for me. There is still some “people power” there. Of course, it’s owned by Google so they’ll probably be working on a way to steal video content too. For now, it’s OK and can be a good source of ideas on books to read.

Just that one step away from social media has given me so many extra hours in the day and freedom to just be. It’s nice, try it.

So we’re still a little off-grid. We prepared to be fully off-grid if the need arises, and life is better. Did you want to read more on how we’re getting self-sufficient and becoming off-grid? Stick around, sign up to follow. I’m back to old-school blogging. Thoughts, words, photos, no SEO. I’m removing the Ezoic ads from this site ASAP too. It’s difficult, bear with me.
